One Man Kit AB0 and Rhesus D blood determination
Prior to transfusion, the resulting ABO group must be confirmed by reverse testing, and donor's blood found RhD
negative must be tested for weak RhD antigens by more sensitive methods.

The test is based on forward haemagglutination. The dried antibody reagents on the card will agglutinate erythrocytes with the corresponding antigens. No agglutination in a field indicates the absence of the corresponding antigen. The blood group of the tested individual is determined from the agglutination pattern on the EldonCard.


For the 2023 Essential Diagnostics List, the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on in vitro diagnostics (SAGE IVD) reviewed 12 applications and recommended the addition of eight in IVDs, including a point-of-care test to determine blood groups and Rhesus factor in the context of maternal health care and hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn.

Using EldonCards, blood can be grouped on location
 e.g. at the bedside just prior to a trans-fusion, in the practitioner's clinic, on remote locations as ships and oil rigs, on the battle field, in the class room, in the private home, or in any emergency situation calling for a speedy and reliable test. EldonCards can be used as identification cards or as driving licenses. In countries with both rhesus positive and rhesus negative individuals the blood of all pregnant women must be grouped. The EldonCard will enable the practicing gynecologists to group his patient's blood, and the patient does not need to visit a blood bank or a clinical laboratory.
