Zinc selenide (ZnSe) plano-convex (PCX) lenses are designed for focusing or collimation applications in the medium and long wave infrared spectrum. With a volume absorption coefficient of <0.0005cm-1 at a wavelength of 10.6μm, no coating or a variety of broadband anti-reflective coating options are available with a transmittance of 99.8% after coating. 8-12μm coatings are ideal for use with CO2 lasers and thermal camera applications, while dual-band 3-12μm coatings are suitable for hyperspectral applications. Zinc selenide plano-convex lenses have irregularities of <λ/20 at 10.6μm wavelengths, a surface quality of 40-20, and a surface roughness of <50Å.
