Reaction Principle:
Sodium chloride (Nacl) and water (H2O) are ionized in table salt water. Hydrogen (H2) and chlorine (CL2) are produced at the cathode and anode respectively after electricity is applied. The remaining hydroxide ions combine with sodium ions to form sodium hydroxide (NaOH), and contact of chlorine gas and sodium hydroxide produces sodium hypochlorite (NaClO).
