What is Procona System?
Procona, which stands for "From PROducer to CONsumer in Aqua", is an unique packaging system for flowers throughout the entire chain from grower to customer.
Whether you are a grower, an exporter, a wholesaler or a retailer, if cut flowers are your business you know the better your flowers’ condition when they reach the consumer, the greater their potential to make you profit and enhance your reputation for quality.
To keep cut flowers in perfect condition they need to be kept in water and a flow of cool air. All the way from the grower to the consumer. Which is exactly what the Procona system does.

The Valencia, the largest container in the Procona range (dimensions 30 x 40 cm), is ideally suited for use by growers, exporters/importers and wholesalers.
Flowers are presented perfectly, can be sold straight from the container without re-packaging or trimming the stems, maximum stem length.
Valencia containers will take loads of up to 80 kg (at approx. 5° Celsius, for 3 - 6 days) and are available in two heights to suit flowers with different stem lengths.

The Florida, the smallest container in the Procona range (dimensions 24 x 30 cm), is ideally suited for use in retail outlets such as florists, supermarkets and (hospital) gift shops.

Optional Accessories
Cardboard Collar
Collars are available in corrugated cardboard and plastic. Both materials are recycled.
Corrugated cardboard collars are single use.
Plastic collars are recommended for situations in which damp is a major factor and can be reused up to around 25 times.

Ventilated Lid
The lid is placed on the upper rim of the collar after the container has been filled with flowers and the collar inserted in the container rim. The Procona container, collar and lids are then locked in place with a strapping band. The entire package can then be lifted by the strapping band.
The ample ventilation openings in the lid allow cool air to flow into the packaging and the damp (warm) air exhaled by the flowers to flow out. Even Procona containers in the centre of a stacked pallet have sufficient ventilation. The ventilation openings also allow the contents of the container to be seen without unpacking.

Topframes
Topframes are available for use with Florida containers and Valencia / Amsterdam containers.
A top frame is used to add height to the container. This means the container can be used to transport and display flowers with longer stems.

Partition
The partition can be clamped to the container rim to ensure the last few bunches in the container remain upright and perfectly presented.
The partition is suitable for repeated use and is recyclable. The partition can be used in all containers except the Florida 18.

Procona Sponge
Most airlines will not transport flowers in water because ‘loose’ water could spill and cause a safety hazard.
If flowers must be kept in water during the flight inserting a Procona sponge in the container solves the problem.
