20Cr round steel is a low hardenability carburized steel. Compared with 15Cr steel, it has higher strength and hardenability, with a critical hardenability diameter of 4-22mm in oil and 11-40mm in water. However, its toughness is poor, and this steel still has a tendency for grain growth during carburization. Cooling and direct quenching have a significant impact on impact toughness. Therefore, secondary quenching is required after carburization to improve the core toughness of the parts without tempering brittleness; 20Cr round steel has high cold strain plasticity and can be drawn in a cold state; The machinability is good under high-temperature normalizing or quenching and tempering conditions, but poor after annealing; 20Cr round steel is pearlite with good weldability, and generally does not require heat treatment after welding. However, parts with a thickness greater than 15mm need to be preheated to 100-150 ℃ before welding, and may not undergo annealing heat treatment after welding.




20Cr steel is mostly used to manufacture carburized parts (oil quenching) with high strength requirements at the core, worn surface, cross section below 30mm or complex shape and low load, such as machine tool gearbox gear, gear shaft, cam, worm, piston pin, Dog clutch, etc; For parts with low deformation and high wear resistance during heat treatment, high-frequency surface quenching should be carried out after carburization, such as gears, shafts, spline shafts, etc. with a modulus less than 3. This steel can also be used in the quenching and tempering state to manufacture parts with high working speed and medium impact load. It can also be used as low-carbon Martensite quenching steel to further increase the yield strength and tensile strength of the steel (about 1.5~1.7 times).
