Powdery Activated Carbon for sugar decolorization is produced selected types of wood and sawdust. This type of carbon is produced by either steam or phosphoric acid activation. Most pores in wood based carbon are in the meso and macro pore region which is ideal for decolorization of liquids and water.

The raw coal is crushed and ground into coal powder, then binder is added for coal blending, kneading and forming. The extruded charcoal is then charred and activated to obtain the finished columnar activated carbon.
The purpose of mixing and kneading is to make the solid phase coal dust and liquid phase coal tar fully mixed, giving the mixture plasticity and fluidity, so that the fine particles of coal dust are fully and evenly filled and wrapped by coal tar, and the coal pitch is formed into charcoal skeleton forming particles after charring and extruded from the bottom of the die plate, and then cut into strips of uniform length by the cutter.
Carbonization: The raw material is heated and dried at a temperature of 170 to 600°C and approximately 80% of the original organic matter is charred.
Activation: which is accomplished by reacting the char with an activator such as water vapour, produces a mixture of mainly CO and H2 in a heat absorption reaction, which is used to burn the char to a suitable temperature (800 to 1000°C) to remove all decomposable material, resulting in a well-developed microporous structure and a large specific surface area, which gives it a high adsorption capacity.
