Q:Running pfsense as a firewall what type of throughput does this device get?
A: Unencrypted pfSense can forward at wirespeed, but for an openvpn link, this box struggles to get up to 100mb/s and drops about 30% of packets. I upgraded from pfSense to VyOS, and now easily 200mb/s encrypted openvpn traffic, no packets dropped, and less, cpu usage, only about 30%
Q: Who is the manufacturer of the memory and msata? what are those model numbers?
A: Memory comes from our own brand. And other memories like Kingston, Samsung, or Crucial are also optional.
Q:I notice there is an open slot next to the msata drive slot. Is this slot compatible with some sort of wifi and Blue-tooth module?
A: It is for a WiFi module. Note that it must be the USB communications type of WiFi module.
Q: Do the usb ports support serial emulation so that a console based install of pfsense (or any other serial communication) is supported over USB?
A: These devices (like all GF-LINK devices) have a dedicated physical COM port that can be used as a serial console for pfSense. The COM cable that comes with all our devices is a RJ45 to DB9 cable (standard Cisco cable). You'll need to add your own USB to DB9 serial adapter if you don't have a DB9 serial port on your computer.
