We spray a large box with foam and set the motor in the foam. The foam conforms to the shape and protects it very well. Otherwise, we construct a large cardboard box (like from a refrigerator) and use chunks of Styrofoam to pack. we build a wooden frame to crate the outboards and protect them from any kind of damage. Also Engine comes in original crate. We remove and inspect (PDI).
