Extrusion melt pump/metering pump/gear pump
Melt pump belongs to positive displacement gear pump, there is a pair of cylindrical gear with external teeth relative rotation to transport high viscosity melt fluids. There are straight tooth, helical tooth and herringbone tooth, three types of tooth to choose from. Every pair of gear is finished and assembled accurately to get precise flow rate. According to different extrusion situation, the pump and gear will do special disposition.
How an Extrusion Gear Pump/melt pump Works:
An extrusion gear pump/melt pump is a positive displacement device, which consist of a pair of cylindrical gears with external teeth within bearings and a close tolerance housing. Polymer melt is transported from the inlet side and precisely metered to the discharge side.
The volume of polymer melt between each gear tooth is precisely the same and every revolution will deliver a consistent, linear volume of output (measured in cc/rev), which can realize that the polymer comes out of the extruder screw into the inlet and then outlet of the gear pump, keeping the pressure of the melt stable.
Gear Pump/melt pump is for all most common extrusion applications and will process a broad range of melt viscosities and densities.
