What is a transparent dressing?
Transparent film dressings are semi-permeable membrane dressings; that is waterproof yet permeable to oxygen and water vapour which help in preventing bacterial contamination. They may be used as a primary or secondary dressing.
What is a transparent film dressing used for?

How long can transparent dressing stay on?
Wounds: Leave on as long as possible until the dressing becomes compromised (i.e. edge lift, rolled or soiled) to prevent disruption of the healing process. Dressing generally changed when fluid is “excessive,” dressing is loose or routinely at 7 days.
What is the recommended dressing for a cannula?
A sterile transparent dressing will be placed over the cannula to keep the site clean. Staff will also observe the site through the dressing on a regular basis. Before staff can use your cannula, they must clean their hands. They will then clean the connector that they use to join up drugs and fluids to your cannula.
Instructions
1. After cleaning and disinfecting the wound, remove the dressing from the packaging bag.
2. Remove the release paper from the printing side to expose the adhesive surface.
3. Apply the adhesive surface to the skin and smooth it from the middle to all around.
4. Remove the back release material.
5. In case of abrasion, burn and a small amount of exudate after operation, apply sterile gauze or absorption pad and anti-inflammatory drugs to the wound after cleaning the wound, and then apply the dressing.
Matters needing attention
1. Sterile, disposable.
2. It is forbidden to use if the packing bag is damaged.
3. It cannot replace measures such as suture, hemostasis and skin disinfection.
4. It cannot be used for the fixation of arterial catheter.
5. If the wound is infected or ulcerated, it is forbidden. If the wound is infected later, such as congestion, swelling, exudation and fever, the use shall be terminated or the replacement frequency shall be increased according to the doctor's diagnosis.
6. The dressing of appropriate specification shall be selected and applied to the skin naturally. It shall not be pulled to cause tension and damage the skin.
7. When removing the dressing, care should be taken not to pull off the catheter or other instruments under it.
