Bleach powder chemical formula CaCl2·Ca(ClO)2·2H2O, white powder substance, its composition varies with different preparation conditions, generally is a hydrated double salt composed of calcium hypochlorite, calcium chloride and unreacted calcium hydroxide, its effective component is calcium hypochlorite. Bleach powder has strong oxidizing, corrosive and irritating properties. When it meets water, ethanol or inorganic acid, it can be decomposed into hypochlorous acid, and hypochlorous acid has strong oxidation, bleaching and sterilization properties, so the bleaching effect of bleaching powder is mainly based on the oxidation of hypochlorous acid.
