Description

What is centrifugal pump used for?
The centrifugal pump is composed of six parts, namely impeller, pump body, pump shaft, bearing, sealing ring and stuffing box. Its function is:
1. The impeller is the core part of the centrifugal pump. It has high speed and large output. The blades on the impeller play a major role. The impeller must pass a static balance test before assembly. The inner and outer surfaces of the impeller should be smooth to reduce friction losses in the water flow.
2. The pump body is also called the pump casing, which is the main body of the water pump. It plays a supporting and fixing role and is connected to the bracket where the bearing is installed.
3. The function of the pump shaft is to connect the motor with the coupling and transmit the torque of the motor to the impeller. It is the main component for transmitting mechanical energy.
4. Sliding bearings use transparent oil as lubricant, and generally add oil to the oil level line.
5. The sealing ring is also called the leakage reducing ring. In order to increase the backflow resistance, reduce internal leakage, and extend the service life of the impeller and pump casing, a sealing ring is installed at the joint between the inner edge of the pump casing and the outer edge of the impeller. The sealing gap is preferably kept between 0.25-1.10 mm.
6. The stuffing box consists of stuffing, water seal ring, stuffing barrel, stuffing gland, and water seal tube. Its function is to close the gap between the pump casing and the pump shaft, preventing the water flow in the pump from flowing to the outside, and preventing the outside air from entering the pump.

What is a main disadvantage of a centrifugal pump?
1. The reducer is easily damaged: When the impeller of the centrifugal pump runs at high speed, it places a heavy load on the reducer, which can easily cause damage to the reducer or increase consumables, which increases maintenance costs.
2. The pump body vibrates heavily: The centrifugal pump will produce a certain amount of vibration and noise when it is running. If the installation is unbalanced or the impeller is greatly worn, it will produce greater vibration, which is not conducive to keeping the environment in the machine room quiet.
3. Large flow loss: There will always be a certain flow loss during the application process of centrifugal pumps, which also makes the efficiency of centrifugal pumps slightly lower than some other types of pumps.
