Australia cultivates two-row spring barley known for its plump and vibrant grains, coupled with a moderate protein content. The harvested barley exhibits low moisture content, ensuring prolonged storage viability. Annually, Australia produces 9-10 million tonnes of barley, spanning nearly four million hectares across the southern grain belt.

Approximately 30-40% of this annual production is graded as malting barley. Australian barley enjoys a global reputation, predominantly employed in the brewing industry for beer production and as a key component in animal feed. The versatile uses of Australian malted barley encompass:
