Colloidal silica(also called silica solution or silica sol) is a dispersion of nanoscale silica particles in water or solvents. Due to the large amount of water and hydroxyl groups contained in SiO2, its main content can also be expressed as SiO2·nH2O. It can be classified into three types based on its pH value, that’s alkaline, acidic, and neutral types. Neutral Silica is mainly used in catalyst carriers, non stick pot coatings, resin synthesis and other fields. It has very high specific surface area. Also when the water evaporates, the colloidal particles will firmly adhere to the surface of the object and form a silicon oxygen bond between the particles, which brings good adhesive effect.
