Line thickness, vegetation and brushcutter power:
*1.2mm–2.0mm: The thinnest trimmer line is designed for short grass and low-growing plants such as ray grass and clovers. This type of nylon line can only be fitted to less powerful trimmers.
*2.0mm - 2.4mm: Best for residential lawns with common lawn weeds, manicured lawns like golf courses and areas with young, soft grass. Trimmer engine sizes up to 25cc.
*2.4mm - 2.7mm: Large lawns and areas with mature weeds with heavy stems, light commercial. Trimmer engine sizes of 25cc plus.
*2.7mm - 3.0mm: Large sections, ideal for professional landscapers and contract mowers as it can handle thick grass, heavy weeds, small woody shrubs, dense underbrush. Trimmer engine sizes of 25cc plus.
*3.3mm+: The thickest trimmer line (3mm+) is usually twisted, serrated or square-shaped and is designed for long grass and low undergrowth.Suited to very heavy-duty work like lifestyle blocks, parks, reserves and areas with lots of obstacles like cemeteries. This type of nylon line can only be used with the most powerful brush cutters.
How to store trimmer line:
Trimmer line needs a bit of humidity to retain all its properties.
Keep the nylon line away from sources of heat in a moist environment to ensure it stays strong.
You can also moisten the line from time to time to ensure it maintains the right level of humidity.
