Separate form:

There are three types of separators generally used in gas systems: baffle type, adsorption type, and cyclone type.

Working principle:

Baffle type: The baffle or folding plate separator is composed of many baffles. The fluid changes the flow direction many times in the separator. Since the suspended water droplets have large mass and inertia, when the flow direction changes when encountering the baffles, Dry steam can continue to move forward through the baffle, while water will accumulate on the baffle. The separator has a large flow area, which reduces the kinetic energy of the water droplets. Most of them will condense and fall to the bottom of the separator. Hydrophobic drainage.

Adsorption type: There is an obstacle on the steam channel inside the adsorption type separator, usually a metal mesh pad. Suspended water droplets are adsorbed after encountering it. When the water droplets reach a certain size, they fall to the bottom of the separator due to gravity. . The adsorption type is not suitable for separation environments with higher wind speeds. When the wind speed reaches more than 10m/s, the efficiency will drop by 50%. Separators that combine cyclone and adsorption are also very common, because the overall separation efficiency will be improved by combining these two methods.

Cyclone type: The cyclone or centrifugal type separator uses a series of fins to generate a high-speed cyclone, which rotates the steam flowing at high speed inside the separator.

The main difference between baffle-type, cyclone-type and adsorption-type separators is that the baffle-type separator can maintain a high separation efficiency in a large flow rate range, while the separation efficiency of cyclone-type and adsorption-type separators is only when the gas velocity is below 13.8m/s can it reach 98%, otherwise the efficiency will be very low. When the gas velocity is 25m/s, the separation efficiency is only about 50%.
