Micrococcus sphaericus is a spherical green alga, which is rated as the ‘Best Genetic Food for Humanity in the 21st Century’ by the United Nations Health Organisation (WHO), and recommended by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) as the ‘Most Ideal Food for Humanity in the 21st Century’. In 2013, Chlorella was submitted to the New Food Ingredient Application, and after 8 years of long application, it will finally be approved by the Health Commission in 2021, and become a national new food ingredient.
