Tip-Therm
Tip Thermis an early diagnostic device for symmetrical polyneuropathy which measures temperature sensitivity of the skin. It was developed to give the clinician and patient a convenient and easy to use method of testing. It works up to a temperature of 23° C / 73,4° F.
Testing procedure
Tip Therm is made of special polymer and metal alloys. The polymer side feels warmer and the metal alloy side cooler due to the thermal conductivity property of the materials
The clinician place the two flat surfaces on the patient's foot at irregular intervals while the patient should be keep the eyes closing. If correct answers are given when the clinician asks whether it feels cold or not so cold, it may presume that the patient's temperature perception is functioning well. The patient can use the Tip-Therm(Sensory Assist)for testing all by themselves.
