I. Product Description

  cast-iron pipe wrap coating  is same as our customer of  Saint Gobain’s pipe,they are the largest ductile-iron pipe manufacture in the world.In China market, we made the “Technical standard of pipe wrapping tape coating for ductile iron pipes” together with Saint Gobain china branch Technology department Technology department.

 

 

cast-iron pipe wrap coating  is used as the base material which is coated by the liquid butyl rubber film, both of which are pressed and compounded. Pipe coating tape will protect the pipe and its anti-corrosion tape surface from pipeline damages. Xunda coating tapes have been specially developed for high-quality, corrosion protection for joints, in cases where the pipeline has already been installed. The material is easy, safe and quick to apply on welded joints, bends and other complicated shapes.

 

 

II. Coating tape procedure

 

 1. primer ,liquid adhesive

• The Liquid adhesive shall be applied in a uniform thin at the coverage rate recommended by the manufacture. 
• The Liquid adhesive shall be thoroughly and continuously mixed and agitated during application to prevent settling. 
• The Liquid adhesive may be applied to the entire exterior surface of the pipe by spray-type or rug-type methods or other suitable means to cover the entire exterior surface of the pipe. 
• The Liquid adhesive coat shall be uniform and free from floods, runs, sags, drips, or bare spots. The Liquid adhesive coated pipe surface shall be free of any foreign substances, such as sand, grease, oil, grit, rust particles, or dirt. 
• The primer coat DFT shall not be less than 25-50micron(1-2mils)
•  after the primer dried, then wrapping the tape (It usually takes 3to 5 minutes.).
•  Consumption:  machine applicationapprox. 0,1 litre/m²   hand application    approx. 0,12-0.15 litre/m²

  2. Tape Inner Wrap,anticorrosion layer,

· Anticorrosion inner wrap tape shall be two ply plastic tape consisting of stabilized polyethylene (PE) base of outer layer (backing) with a layer of butyl rubber (adhesive) applied on one side. 

·  The thickness of plastic base shall not be less than 13mils. Thickness of butyl rubber shall not be less than 12 mils. The total thickness of the tape shall not be less than 25 mils. 

· The Anticorrosion inner wrap tape must be compatible with the properties of the primer and the properties of outer wrap tape.

· PE backing colour shall be black.

 4.2.  cast-iron pipe wrap coating Tape outer Wrap

· The anticorrosion outer wrap tape shall be two ply plastic tape consisting of stabilized polyethylene (PE) base of outer layer (backing) with a layer of butyl rubber (adhesive) applied on one side. 

·  The thickness of plastic base shall not be less than 12mils. Thickness of butyl rubber shall not be less than 13 mils. The total thickness of the tape shall not be less than 25 mils. 

·  The outer wrap tape must be compatible with the properties of the primer and the properties of outer wrap tape

· PE backing colour shall be white.
