Chinese Magnoliavine Fruit is the dried ripe fruit of Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Barll. or Schisandra sphenanthera Rehd. et Wils. (Fam. Magnoliaceae). The former is known as BeiWuweizi (Northern Magnoliavine Fruit) and the latter is known as Nan Wuweizi (Southern Magnoliavine Fruit). The drug is collected in autumn when ripedried in the sun or after steamed, removed from stalk and foreign matter.
Economic value: Its leaves and fruit can be extracted aromatic oil. The seed contains fat oil, oil manufacture and used for industrial raw materials, and also used for lubricants.
