Advantages
Low carbon oxide concentrations in outlet gas
Low and stable pressure drop due to high strength and sphere structure
Excellent thermal stability
Easy for activation and start-up
High ability for anti-external contaminations
High activity and selectivity;
Performance Parameter
Appearance Grey spheroids
Size: Diameter 3-7mm
Bulk Density 0.8-1.0 g/ml
Applications
Following the low temperature shift reaction and removal of carbon dioxide (CO2), the methanation reaction is used to remove any remaining carbon oxides from the process stream prior to ammonia synthesis. Trace amounts of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are reacted with hydrogen in the presence of a nickel oxide catalyst to produce a mixture of methane and water
CO + 3H2 → CH 4+ H2O H0 298 =-206.2KJ/mol
CO2 + 4H2 → CH 4+ 2H2O H0 298 =-165.0KJ/mol
