Luscious and resinous, dark and exotic, Oud oil, also known as Aloeswood or Oud oil has a millennial association with mysticism, aphrodisia and divine ritual.
Derived from the hydro-distillation of the Oud , which lends it a particularly deep, unctuous quality, this ethereal and earthy nectar is among the rarest and certainly the most costly of all essential oils.
Oud oil is surrounded by myths and legends: it is reputed to have magical powers of attracting wealth and love.
Oud is precious resinous wood formed in heartwood of Aquilaria tree, an archaic tropical evergreen tree native to Golf of Tonkin, Vietnam and other countries of Southeast Asia. The odor of Oud is complex and pleasing. As a result, Oud and its essential oil gained great cultural and religious significance in ancient civilizations around the world.
Nowadays, Oud has been widely use in aroma industry, medicine, indoor air improvement and fumigation and religious practices and spiritual life.
Oud oil is obtained using a hydro distillation.

Odor profile: The pathological secretion of the aquillaria tree, a rich, musty woody-nutty scent that is highly prized in the Middle East. In commercial perfumery it's safe to say all "oud" is a recreated synthetic note.

Uses
An important use of Oud is the production of incense.
Oud is an aphrodisiac, both in oil form, and as incense. These are generally topical uses but the oil is also sold in Vietnamese pharmacies for internal use with the same goal.
Chinese medicine uses powdered Aquilaria as a treatment for cirrhosis of the liver and for other medicines.
It has also been used as a treatment for lung and stomach tumors.
