Basic summary of general non combustible wood in Japan.

Non-combustible wood is a construction material which is manufactured by soaking or vacuum pressuring a boric acid or a phosphoric acid into natural Japanese Cedar, Hinoki Cypress and so on. This allows for the lumber to stay close to its natural state while acquiring fire retardant properties. The Japanese Building Standards Act was revised for this type of fire resistant lumber to be used in several types of buildings including; homes, apartments, condomininms, department stores and underground structures. The product has to be authorized by the Japanese minister of Land, infrastructure and transport to meet its expectations and highest standards. The product has to be passed "cone calorie meter" testing from a designated laboratory by the Japanese minister of Land, infrastructure and transport. This test is set the riquirements which are listed below.

1. Whole calorie count must be below 8MJ/M2.

2. There must be no damages to the materials after heating including cracks, warping and deformities.

3. It must not be exceed 200KW/M2 in the maximum heat.

4. It must not be emitted toxic gasses.

If test is cleared all requirements above, its rank is classified as below depending on endurance time.

- Non Combustible Material = 20 minutes

- Quasi Noncombustible Material = 10 minutes

- Fire Retardant Material = 5 minutes

Our product has passed the difficult product testing in Japan which is prone to natural disasters.

Caution

1. Since wood is natural materials, the color, texture and wood patterns on each plank are different.

2. Since natural wood is used as raw material, this product may happen a slight bends, a twist and a difference of size.

3. Urethane paints are recommended when using this product indoors.

4. It is recommended that this product is stored in a dry and dark room.

5. This product is twice the density of normal cedar. This means it is twice as heavy and hard. Precautions should be taken when working with this product.

6.If the plank ever forms white deposited on the surface, there are no change in the properties and can be easily wiped off with cloth.

Non-combustible material certification issued by the minister of land, Infrastructure, transport and tourism in Japan.

1. First lumber from green cedar is air dried.
2. Then dried in a kiln drying until its moisture content drops to 15%.
3. lumber is processed to Tongue-and-groove in advance.
4. All lumbers are weighed before the chemical injection.
5. The cedar is then put into a vacuumed sealed tank. Chemicals will be injected to the lumber using pressure for better absorption.
6. All injected lumbers are weighed to insure that the chemicals have been injected properly.
7. Injected lumber is air dried.
8. Then once again dried by a kiln until there are no decreases in weight.
9. The final product is complete.
