What is hinoki?
Hinoki has been used since ancient times in Japan as wooden construction material to build the temples and shrines. From this, it can be said that the strength of hinoki currently used for the Horyuji Temple is as strong as at the time of cutting. Besides, a scholar said that even if 1300 years have passed since cutting, you can feel good scent from it and also can use it if it is planed.
