Description

These hot and long lasting wood briquettes are suitable for use in fireplaces, log and multifuel stoves, log burners, chimeneas, firepits and log boilers. They are particularly good for woodburning cookers where there is limited space in the firebox and a good flame is required to get the oven up to temperature. These briquettes contain only 1% moisture compared to about 7-10% in other types of briquettes and 20-30% in firewood logs! They also perform really well in log burners with or without secondary air intake, as they light so easily and are more compact than many other sawdust logs.

Finally, these briquettes save you up to 40% on the cost of heating when compared with seasoned logs at 25% moisture (heat output of 5.13 kWh/kg in briquettes against 3.69 kWh/kg in seasoned logs).

How are the briquettes made?

The briquettes are made from mixed dried virgin pine and spruce wood sawdust in a screw press which applies high pressure with additional heating of briquette surfaces. Thanks to this advanced technology, the briquettes are extremely dense and compact - over 2 x as dense as kiln-dried logs - and with a smooth and slightly glazed surface giving a very natural look. No additives or binders are added because natural lignin in the wood binds sawdust after high pressure and temperature are applied.

What are the briquettes like?

These briquettes are of a chocolate colour and release a delicate flavor of wood smoke when you open the package. They contain very little ash (0.41%) and moisture (3.6%), and as a result provide a very high heat output of 5,130 kWh/t (18.5 MJ/kg). They do not expand, spark, or spit when burning.

Each briquette measures approximately 65mm x 65mm x 240mm with a hole down the middle 24mm in diameter which creates additional draught and ensures the briquettes burn both inside and outside.

There are 12 briquettes in a 10kg clear polythene bag and 96 x 10 kg packs on a full pallet, while a half pallet contains 48 x 10kg packs. They are very clean and easy to handle. A half pallet has three rows of 10kg packs, while a full pallet has six rows. The pallet is shrink-wrapped. 

How to get the most out of this product?

The briquettes burn as long as 3 - 4 hours in a good stove without expanding and produce good flame during the first 20-30 minutes of burning and then glow giving a steady heat until reduction to a small amount of grey ash residue.

Place them on burning kindling wood to get them really hot and then turn down the air flow. Experiment with these to get the best performance from your stove set-up and you will be very impressed with this high calorie, low cost heat source.
