OPT-32 EQUILATERAL PRISMS, ACRYLIC
Equilqteral acrylic prism, with 25 mm legs and 150 mm height. For experiments in dispersion and refraction of light. In optics, a prism is a transparent optical element with flat, polished surfaces that refract light. At least two of the flat surfaces must have an angle between them. Equilateral prisms feature three equal 60° angles and are often referred to as dispersing prisms. Equilateral prisms are ideal for wavelength separating applications.
Equilateral prisms are often used for breaking up white light into a spectrum of colors (also see our diffraction gratings), while right angle prisms are generally used for measuring critical angles and observing total internal reflection such as in fiber optics.
