The product is a tubular (cylindrical) knitted mesh stuffed with coir fibre, used for erosion control on the banks of rivers and lakes. The knitted mesh or outer sleeve is made from machine-spun natural coir fibre twine.
It can also be made from synthetic rope. The chief application is in erosion control on the banks of rivers and inland water bodies. Our product is positioned as a premium product over competing offerings, because of the consistency of density and the strength and quality of the outer sleeving (tube).
We offer the logs in several densities - from the hightest of 9 lbs, per cubic foot (144 kg.per cubic meter) to 7 Ib. per cubic foot (112 kg. per cubic meter)
Where to place a coir log
In standing water : Coconut coir logs are placed offshore to break waves and encourage sedimentation and re-vegetation. Coconut products such as blocks, logs and mats are also recommended products for soil boi-engineering. For more information.
In flowing water areas : Coir fiber rolls can be placed directly on the bank, often retaining fill material or securing new channel alignment.
