Description:

We deliver teak decking solely from Myanmar in classification A-Grade (1 fce clear), kiln dried to moisture content 16 – 18%. Real Burmese teak has narrow, light yellow-brown sapwood and dark gold-brown wood which darkens outside on the surface to medium or dark brown. Burmese teak has mostly direct fibration. Teak is suitable for shaping. It is necessary to pre-drill holes for connection. Teak wood is very durable. Without treatment, teak wood decking remains undamaged; however its colour gradually changes from yellow-brown to silver-grey in time. In order to maintain the original colour, it is necessary to treat the wood and we recommend the most suitable paint composition: 2 coats with one of special wood oils OSMO COLOR with pigment base (not 007 colour-free teak oil) or 1 coat with one of special wood oils OSMO COLOR with pigment base (not 007 colour-free teak oil) and 1 coat with special wood oil with antislip effects (oil contains dense organic additive with evenly spread antislip particles in the paint. The particles connect upon application and remain on the surface after drying. In case of sheltered decking it is possible to use 2 thin coats of special wood oil 007 – colour-free teak oil or 2 thin coats of special wood oil with antislip effect no. 430. A correct function of the decking requires the compliance with basic rules for laying wooden decking and the creation of sufficiently stable construction. The base construction requires the use of wood with the same or similar density as the surface wood in order to enable equal expansion and shrinking. For correct maintenance and cleaning refer to the maintenance instructions for decking boards. Wood density: 610 – 690 kg/m³

Hints for laying of teak decking:

Teak wood is suitable for shaping. It is necessary to pre-drill holes in teak wood for connecting individual decking boards.

A correct function of the decking requires the compliance with basic rules for laying teak decking and the creation of sufficiently stable base grill construction.

The base construction – grid should comprise only of wood with the same or similar density as the teak decking boards assembled as the surface due to evenly balanced wood tension, expansions and shrinking, which is a common occurrence.

The most solid and safe connection of decking boards with the base grid are screws placed from the top. If the decking assembly is required without noticeable screws on the top, use specially developed connecting clamp. Do not forget the generally applicable rules for laying decking related to the base, sufficiently stable base for a decking including the decline for water drainage, correct earthing and dimensioned base construction.

Wooden floor boards are prepared for laying for attaching the screws from the top. If it is required to attach the screws invisible from the top, use the connecting clamp painted accordingly to the wood shade prior to assembly. We recommend using boards up to maximum thickness 21 mm for decking from coniferous trees, and up to maximum board thickness 20mm for decking from exotic trees.
