LED Obstruction Lighting Helps Save Energy, Reduce Maintenance Costs and Meet FAA Regulations

Efficient LED Warning Beacons

Should one of the bulbs fail unexpectedly, FAA fines could top thousands of dollars per day, for each light that is out. With few crews certified and available to perform this kind of maintenance, the fines could easily add up quickly if the short-lived Xenon bulbs aren’t replaced immediately. Xenon bulb disposal was also an issue, with special handling required - another added cost.

FAA Obstruction Lighting

The new LED units are safer for humans, too: the Wetra L864/L865 LED beacons operate at a much lower voltage than traditional Xenon flashtubes, reducing the risk of injury due to electrical shock for installers and maintenance crews. The L864/L865 power supply/control box can be positioned at the base of the tower for added safety and convenience when servicing the units.

Wetra LED Beacon Features and Benefits

  • Industry’s Longest Warranty
  • No More Dangerous High Voltage Power Supply Required
  • Smallest Flash Head in the Industry
  • Precise Optics resulting in minimum ground scatter light
  • Significant reduction in expensive tower climbs
  • Enables the use of low voltage flexible cable
  • Significantly less wind loading than Xenon strobes

Aircraft Warning Lights are used to warn the presence of high buildings: skyscrapers, towers, chimneys, wind generators, offshore platforms, etc.; ensuring a safe air navigation.

According to ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization Annex 14 regulations, each tall structure must have aviation obstruction light on it. Depending on the height of the structure, the aviation obstruction lights can have different intensities such as low intensity aviation obstruction light, medium intensity aviation obstruction light, high intensity aviation obstruction light, exproof aviation obstruction light
