Glycerin is an organic compound known formally as glycerol. Its common source from vegetable oils. Glycerin is a colourless, odourless, nontoxic, viscous liquid at room temperature, and it has a sweet taste.
Glycerin has a wide range of applications in the food, pharmaceutical, medical and personal care industries, as well as a variety of industrial and scientific uses.
Glycerin is used in medical, pharmaceutical, and personal care preparation mainly as a means of improving smoothness, providing lubrication, and as a humectant.
