Glycerol has three hydroxyl groups that are responsible for its solubility in water and its hygroscopic nature. The main support is central for all the lipids known as triglycerides. Glycerol tastes sweet and is generally considered non-toxic. Refined glycerin is used for a variety of effects in different industries.
