CALCIUM FLUORIDE

INTER URB GROUP FLUORITE (CALCIUM FLUORIDE  CAF2) is a mineral from the group of halides, 
the combination of calcium and fluorine. Its main use is the production of hydrofluoric acid.

In the manufacture of steel, fluorite is used as a base, the reduction of the melting point of steel,
the double objective, the ease of formation of the slag, the reduction of the energy cost. 
Thermal losses are reduced and thermal performance is improved during the furnace heating and refining phases. 
On the other hand, a greater capacity of reduction of energy in desulphurisation, 
the greater capacity of reduction and the collector of inclusions, resulting in a cleaner steel. 
In the cement industry, the use of fluorite reduces the consumption of thermal energy by reducing 

the clinkerization temperature. On the other hand, the resistance to compression increases by 15% 
in addition to fluorite in its manufacture. Fluorite can be distinguished according to its content in F2Ca:
 - Acid level - Content higher than 97% of F2Ca. - Metallurgical grade (Metspar) - Content higher than 70% of F2Ca.
 - Cement grade - Content higher than 35% of F2Ca.
