SOLFAST DYES:
The Solfast Dyes are developed by a solubilisation process and are characterized by their complete solubility in water. whilst
maintaining the advantages of the conventional sulphur dye. !n water sokition they are virtually non-substantive. a property which
makes them useful for many specialized dyeing techniques. They can be applied from a reducing bath using various suitable alkaline
reducing agents.
Jigger Dyeing Procedure:
Reducide N method:
We at Sul~ast. have developed Reducide N  as an altemative reducing agent to sodium sulphide  for Solubilised sulphur dyes. It is
used in a similar manner for dye dissolution and dyebath. The Table shows the values to be used for best results.
Pre Dye Precaution:
1)   Ensure proper scounng
2)    If fabric is known to contain calcium & magnesium salts as impurities. sour for 20 minutes at 500C using 591 Glacial Acetic
     acid.
3)    If fabric is known to contain Metallic impurities souring with  1g/l Hydrochloric Acid at room temperature for 20 minutes is
    recom:mended
Dye Dissolution
Weigh the required quantity of dye. Dilute the required amount of Reducide N (as per Table)  in a vessel using boijing water with
stirring. Use this boiling solution to dissolve the dyestuff Keep to stand for 5 - JO mimtes(If steam pipe is available boil thoroughly
for 5 - lO minutes).
Preparation of Dye Bath
Set the bath at 30 - 400C with the following chemicals
5.0 g Reducide N
0.25 g/l Sulfaxil WRW
1.0'l Sulfaxil LTSN

 

Sulfaxil Ecox and Acetic acid
The traditional chemical oxidation systems for sulphur dyes use sodium bicromate and acetic acicL but becau.se of resulting
environmental problems. the use of bicromates is on the decline. For is reason Sulfast Chemical Industries has developed Sulfaxil
Ecox which may be used to replace bicromate in batch wise and continuous applications. Oxidation takes place at 60 - 700C under
acidic  conditions. hi batch wise processing. after dyeing and rinsing the material until the dye bath is clear. add l-1.5% acetic acid
80% based on the weight ofthe fabric (o.w.f.) and treat the material in this bath at 60 -700C for 20 - 30 minutes. The material is then
rmsed and finished in the normal way.
