A typical two-vessel


Combination Mash Lauter Tuns are the first combination vessel in these smaller brewhouses line ups. This vessel should be sized to favor the Lauter operation, and have the mechanics for mixing mash and graining out. Next inline is the combination of the Kettle and Whirlpool tanks. This combination vessel is designed and sized for being primarily a kettle, but is equipped with a tangential fitting for whirlpooling.

A three-vessel brewhouse is hybrid system that incorporates at least one combination vessel and two dedicated process vessels. For example, a medium sized brewery with a focus on heavily hopped beers might choose to go with a combination Mash Lauter Tun, a dedicated Kettle, and a dedicated Whirlpool. Whereas, someone focusing on lagers or feeding a distilling operation might go with a dedicated Mash Tun, dedicated Lauter Tun, and a combination Kettle/Whirlpool. Three-vessel systems don’t have the same output and versatility as four-vessel systems, but they will still out perform a two-vessel system and provide increased efficiency.

A typical four-vessel brewhouse will include a Mash tun, Lauter Tun, Kettle and Whirlpool. Each of these tanks is dedicated to performing a single process, and is designed differently than similar vessel used for performing multiple processes.


 


Four-vessel systems offer the highest throughput and the most versatility. With proper vessel sizing, well laid out hard piping, and well-designed controls these brewhouses can be extremely large and only require one person to operate it. The ability to make more beer with less labor input, paired with gains in efficiency and quality control make the four-vessel brewhouse a worth while investment for breweries that intend to produce a lot of beer.

Material: All adopt the SUS304/316 optional, food and sanitary grade material, with polyurethane inslutaion, thickness 50~100mm rely on the capacity of the fermentor.

The details of NDL Craft mash tun system


Brewhouse: To finish the mashing-lauter-boiling-whirlpool process


Mashing:


In brewing, mash is the process of combining a mix of milled grain and water, and heating this mixture. Mashing allows the enzymes in the malt to break down the starch in the grains into sugars. Mashing involves pauses at certain temperatures(notably 45-62-73℃ or 113-144-163℉), and take place in a mash tun.


Lautering:


In brewing, lauter is the spearation from the grains.The fales bottom in the lauter tun has thin slits to hold back the solids and allow liquids to pass through.The mash it self functions as a sand filter to capture mash debris and proteins through recirculation, and sparging also take place in the lauter tank after the first wort run-off, trickling water through the grain to extract sugars.


Boiling:


After mashing, the beer wort is boiled with hops( and other flavourings if used). The boil on average lasts between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on its intensity, the hop addition schedule and volume of water the brewer expects to evaporate.


Whirlpool:


At the end of the boil, solid particles in the hopped wort are separated out in the whirlpool tank. The wort will be cooled through the plate heat exchanger into the fermenter tanks for fermentation.


 


These process can be done within one vessel or separate vessels, it's a variety of combinations.

Brewing process:


 1)  Crushing  and saccharification


Grind the malt to powder, make the wort after mashing transported to the filter pan by a pipeline


 2)  Filter


Send the wort after mashing boiled to wine tank filtration, separate the wort and spent grains


 3)  Boil and add hops


Transferred to cooking wine cooking water tank with 100 degrees about 70 minutes, After adding hops, cooking the wort to the remaining 1000L till then along the pipeline transported to the fermentation room Cooling


 4)  Cooling


The wort’s temperature is lowered to 10-12 C by cooler, then go into the fermentation tanks to ferment.


 5)  Fermentation


After adequate cooled wort into the fermenter, adding 10 - 15L of yeast for fermentation, takes about six days left to complete the fermentation, in this step will be the final malt in the sugar into alcohol by yeast (yeast Jiamai juice = Beer )


 6)  Slaking and storage


Mature in the beer store as the necessary steps before ripening, beer maturation takes about three weeks of storage at 0 ° C for cask beer color, unique flavor development in this step will be the formation
