Description


Zhu Ye Qing is a gorgeous tea. Look carefully at this smooth, slim, tiny, slightly curved bud – it is a marvel of tea plucking expertise and careful manufacture. Zhu Ye Qing is a modern-era tea but already a classic. It is the most famous tea made on Emei Shan, which is one of China’s four sacred Buddhist mountains. Here, tea grows in the cool, thin air of high elevation and is surrounded by  vast expanses of bamboo forest.

The name Zhu Ye Qing was given by the Foreign Minister Chen Yi in 1964 when he first tasted this tea in the Temple of Ten Thousand Years in Mount Emei. It means "Green Bamboo Leaf", a tribute to the tea's clear liquor and full of life green tea leaves that seemingly dance in the water when infused.

We recommend using glass-based or porcelain tea ware. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water. Use about 2 grams of tea leaves (1-2 teaspoons) for every 150ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 70°c (158°F) to 80°c (176°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.

Taste:
Very refreshing tea. The taste has a unique sweet flavor with a hint of brisk bouquet in the aroma.

 

The tea leaves used for green tea are steamed or pan-dried immediately after picking, arresting bacterial growth and preventing oxidation. Then they are rolled by hand to squeeze out excess moisture and to release flavor enzymes. The leaves are finally fired in large driers and packed. When brewed, then turn a light green color, with a flavor that is sometimes delicate and somewhat tangy.

Green teas are rich in vitamin C. Experts contend that they stimulate the spirit better than any other blend, claiming that it improves their abilities to think and meditate for prolonged periods without fatigue.
