Natural Yellow Beewax

Beewax is a secretion of the abdominal glands of the honeybee. To gather 1 kg of honey, bees (Apis mellifera) must make approx. 100,000 flights covering 240,000 km and making contact with roughly 15 million blossoms. Approx. 30 kg honey p.a. and about 1 kg wax can be harvested from a colony with 30-70,000 bees. When freshly secreted, beeswax is white and colorless, and will acquire a slight yellow color primarily by picking up and storing pollen and honey.
