Work Principle:

 
1) The operation of the solar collector is very simple. 
2) Solar absorption: solar radiation is absorbed by the solar tubes and converted into heat. 
3) Solar heat transfer: heat pipes conduct the heat from within the solar tube up to the header pipe 
4) Solar energy storage: water is circulated through the header, via intermittent pump cycling.Each time the water circulates through the header, the temperatures is raised by 5-10C. Throughout the day, the water in the tank is gradually heated.

6. Is solar water heating a viable alternative to gas or electricity?

Solar should not be seen as an alternative to gas or electricity, but rather a supplement. Solar cannot totally 

replace the need for gas or electric heating as there are some days when there is little sunlight. When averaged 

over a year, a correctly sized solar system can provide 60%-70% of a household's hot water needs. Providing more than this is inadvisable, as too much heat will be 

produced in the summer. The hot water system can easily be automated so hot water is guaranteed regardless

 of sunlight levels.

7.Can Audary solar collectors be used in cold conditions?

Yes. Collectors can be used in temperatures as low as -30℃, although performance is greatly reduced in such 

extreme conditions. Good heat output is still achieved in mild sub-zero conditions.

8. What happens if one of the Audary solar tubes is broken ?

Firstly, tubes are very strong and not easily broken, but if the worst should happen, solar tubes can be replaced 

very easily. They are inexpensive and available through Audary. The solar collectors can operate with several 

broken tubes, but the efficiency will be reduced, so it is recommended that broken tubes should be replaced 

immediately

9.Will water be heated on a cloudy day? 

Yes. Although the heat output of the solar collector is reduced on overcast days it will still be able to provide 

heating. If it is a heavily clouded day or raining, then more gas or electric boosting may be required to maintain

 water at the required temperature. This system will be automated so you don't have to worry about running out 

of hot water in a rainy day.

10.Can I use Audary solar collector with my existing hot water system?

Normally yes. Simple retrofit valves can often be used to allow solar to connect to your existing cold water inlet. 

If your tank cannot accept the solar input directly an additional storage tank can be installed to pre-heat the cold water prior to entering the existing tank. 

11.Can I heat my swimming pool or spa using Audary solar collectors?

Collectors are high temperature collectors, and are therefore ideal for spas, as the volume of water is small and 

temperature requirements high. For swimming pools, however, the volume of water is large and the temperature 

rise required is only several degrees. The cost of heating a pool using solar tube collectors (for domestic 

purposes) may be prohibitively high. For large scale swimming pools, however, collectors may be an extremely 

viable supplement to gas or electricity.

12.What is the best angle for installing the solar collector?

It is common for collectors to be installed at an angle that corresponds to the latitude of the location. Installing 

at an angle less than 20 is not recommended as the heat pipes perform best in the range of 20-70 degree. While adhering to this guideline, an angle of latitude±10 degree is acceptable, and will not greatly 

reduce solar output. Angles beyond this range may be used, but a decrease in heat output will result, an angle

 lower than the latitude will enhance summer output, while a greater angle will enhance winter output.
