Product Description

Rope caulk is a substance, comparable to putty, on a roll that is pressed into a gap in the window pane or casing and seals the void, thereby preventing air from passing through. It can be found in rolls for sealing 6 standard-sized windows or 8 standard-sized windows, and can easily be cut to the length of your choosing. Rope caulk is often easier to use than a conventional caulking gunand tube of caulk due to its ability to be pressed into tight spaces where it may be difficult to operate a caulking gun.

Instructions:

1. Open the window. If necessary, support the window by sliding a window prop between the bottom of the window and the base of the window frame.

2. Wipe all exposed areas of the open window with a rag. Remove all loose particles from the base of the window frame. Ensure all areas are free of loose dirt and other debris before continuing.

3. Remove the window prop. Lower and lock the window.

4. Pull proper length of rope caulk from the roll. Set the roll on a stable surface near the window. Push the rope caulk forcefully into the gap between the inside face of the window and the lower section of the window frame. Pull additional slack from the rope caulk roll and continue pushing the rope caulk into the gap. Work around the perimeter of the window, sealing all gaps. To seal larger gaps, make multiple passes around the window.

5. Cut the installed rope caulk from the roll by pushing against it with a knife blade. Do not try to break the rope caulk by pulling it from the roll with your fingers; this will cause it to stretch and shrink in diameter.
