Description









Malaria is a major parasitic disease, which is endemic in many countries. Each year it causes up to 3 million deaths and close to 5 million cases of clinical illness worldwide. Diagnostics of malaria using traditional methods can be difficult and often requires precise and meticulous microscopy. The thin and thick blood smears are labor-intensive and require skilled handling. Even under ideal conditions microscopic examination of stained blood smears is less than 100% sensitive.

Four species of the Plasmodium parasites are responsible for malaria infections in human: P. falciparum(p.f); P. vivax(p.v);
Plasmodium ovale and P. malariae.

One Step Malaria test is series of simple, rapid tests for the diagnostics of malaria pf/pv/pan antigen or malaria pf/pan
antibodies using serum/plasma/whole blood samples. A positive result by One Step Malaria (pf) Test allows for detection of Plasmodium (p.f) specific Histidine Rich Protein-2 (HRP-2) antigen;while a positive antibody test reveals the malaria infection status and can be used for screening donated blood to prevent transfusion-induced malaria
