Dip moulding is an ideal process when a flexible moulding is required. Zhongtian tooling is generally turned copper or aluminium. The resultant mouldings have numerous applications ranging from gaiters to electrical insulation components, packaging and many other uses.
There are five steps in productions.
| Set 1 Preheating: The tooling is mounted on the dip moulding machine and preheated in an oven to a temperature of around 170℃. | |
| Set 2 Dipping: Once up to temperature the worker then moves the tooling to position over a tank of plasticized PVC. The hot tools are then lowered (dipped) into the material. The heat of the tool causes the material to accumulate on the tool surfaces exposed to the material. A combination of the tool temperature and the amount of time the tool is exposed to the raw material will dictate the wall thickness. Having been immersed for the appropriate period of time relating to the required wall thickness the tools are withdrawn from the material. | |
| Set 3 Heating: The tools with accumulated material are then returned to the oven for a short time to enable curing from the outside in. | |
| Set 4 Cooling: Once fully cured the tools and material are immersed in water in order to cool prior to the mouldings being removed. | |
| Set 5 Removal: Compressed air is used to remove the mouldings from the tools at which point they are ready for secondary operations or packing and dispatch. |
