AKD wax is obtained from higher fatty acids (C>12) which is via acylation and dehydrochlorination.

So this product has excellent water resistance performance as the alkyl chain of higher fatty acids.  

As a basic sizing agent, AKD was has been widely used in paper-making industry as emulsion.

By now, AKD wax can be used as pulp sizing and surface sizing to many kinds of paper, such as cultural paper, paperboard, newsprint paper, board, fruit bag paper and wrapping paper.

1, The optimum PH of AKD wax sizing is 7.5-8.5 - a neutral condition, which is more environmental friendly than rosin (acidic sizing agent). So AKD wax has been gradually replacing rosin.

2, AKD sizing can improve the strength and whiteness of paper, and can keep the good effect for a long time.
