There are lots of different kinds of active carbon powder raw material. The types of activated carbon can be distinguished into as below:

Different types of CTO active carbon block filter cartrdige

There are two different types of carbon filter cartridges. Interestingly enough, the more recent development is the Carbon Block Type Carbon Filter Cartridge because of advances in pulverizing and entrapping carbon in filter media.

      1. Granular activated carbon Filter(GAC): 

Granular active carbon is filled in the abs plastic shell and is wrapped with pp spunbond fabric to prevent powder out of the filter, then welding machine weld the end cap at both ends,the Grannular Activated Carbon Filter Cartridge holds much more carbon by weight and is used in process applications where adsorbing organics is important. Basically we take activated carbon and pour it into plastic containers.

2. Compression type activated carbon filter(CTO):

Carbon Block Filter Cartridges are used primarily for potable water and also as pre-treatment in water purification systems for removal of taste, odor and chlorine.The coal carbon powder, whose iodine number is higher than 900, is mixed with food grade binding material by compression and sintering to make CTO filter

A. Sintering active carbon filter:

Activated carbon powder + polymer, meltecd into porous materials ->200 ~ 300 degrees high temperature - > limited capacity

B. Compression active carbon filter:

Activated carbon powder material + inorganic liquid adhesive - > high pressure compression - > aperture is hard to control

C. Extrusion active carbon filter:

Activated carbon + ordinary hot melt resin - > melted and extruded-> high capacity, low production cost
