The StrongStep® HSV 1/2 Antigen diagnostic cassette is unprecedented in detecting the antigen from mucocutaneous lesions swab. Herpes spread by skin to skin contact which means directly from the site of infection to the site of contact, without probably eliciting systematic immunological reaction. The direct detection of HSV antigen from mucocutaneous lesions swab is more accurate and specific than the type-specific HSV serologic assays in symptomatic patients. This creative method should be used widely, particularly in the differential diagnosis of genital ulcers.
