Characteristic - Amorphous Boron Powders:
Boron has several different forms but in a same element; Monomer-Boron is also known as amorphous boron or element boron. Its appearance is brown powder or shiny grey crystal, and its chemical character is active. This product is stable under air and normal temperature, it can be oxided by heating at 300℃, and it will be fired when the temperature is at/over 700℃.
When this product combust, the flame is in red color; and when it is in gasification, the flame is in green color. This product can not dissolve in water, hydrochloride, ethanol and ether. It can dissolve in cold concentrated alkaline solution and decomposited oxygen; it can be oxidized into boric acid by using concentrated sulfuric acid or/and concentrated nitric acid. In high temperature, the boron in this product can interact with oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, halogen and carbon. Boron also can directly compound with many metals, and then it generates boride. The reaction bewteen boron and organic compounds can generate the compounds which is associated with boron and carbon or the same compounds but contain oxygen. Monomer-Boron is at the specific position on periodic table, which locates on a border between metal element and non-metal element. Monomer-Boron is a non-metal element, which has distinctive advantages such as strong electronegativity, small diameter of atom, concentrated nuclear charge, the nature of non-metal and similar to silicon. The density of our Monomer-Boron is 2.35g/cm3, its hardness is 9.3, specific gravity is 2.33-2.45, melting point: 2300℃, boiling point: 2550℃.
