Earthquake Resistant Pot Type Structural Bearings and Expansion Joints for Bridges

AVIDA pot bearings ensure the transfer of loads between a structure’s superstructure and its sub-structure. Meanwhile they can accommodate rotation and movements of the superstructure. AVIDA POT bearings are generally suitable for the use in any type of structure, and can be subjected to low or high loading and frequent movements and rotation.


AVIDA pot bearings are designed and manufactured acc. to customer requirements, in accordance with relevant standards such as EN 1337, AASHTO, BS5400 or AS 5100.a.

Steel

The austenitic steel used for sliding surfaces is X5CrNiMo17-12-2 in accordance with EN 10088-2 1.4401 with a minimum thickness of 1.5 mm. The roughness is Ry5i ≤ 1 μm, The hardness ≥ 150 HV1 and ≤ 220 HV1.



PTFE

AVIDA uses only virgin PTFE without regenerated or filler materials.
The minimum thickness for bonded PTFE is 1.5 mm and varies in according with the bearings size and type.
The minimum thickness of recessed PTFE is 4.5 mm and varies in according with the bearings size.

Our Certifications




Avida elastomeric bearings are designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the new European standard EN 1337-3 and have the qualification of the CE mark. Avida can also supply elastomeric bearings complying with other standards. The elastomer used in the moulding process can be polychloroprene (neoprene), natural rubber or SBR depending on the specifications requested. Every single steel component is mechanically worked and assembled by fully qualified and trained workers at the factory with regular external inspections according to EN 1337 and under strict ISO 9001:2008 quality control standards.
