Polyphthalamide resin PPA Amodel AS-1133 HS BK 324 and PPA Amodel AS-1133 HS NT

AS-1133 HS is a 33% glass reinforced, heat stabilized polyphthalamide (PPA) resin that provides excellent structural integrity in molded parts, even those with wall thicknesses greater than 0.125 in (3 mm).
Key properties of this structural resin are high heat deflection temperature, high flexural modulus, high tensile strength, excellent creep resistance and low moisture absorption.

Polyphthalamide PPA resin 

Outperforms standard polyamides in heat, moisture and chemical resistance

Semi-crystalline polyphthalamide is a high performance polyamide with outstanding high heat, hydrolysis and chemical resistance, and electrical properties.

PPA outperforms standard polyamides with higher strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures, better retention of properties in humid environments, and greater resistance to a broader range of chemicals.

 

Polyphthalamide PPA resin Properties

• Higher Heat Resistance

PPA is used to replace metal in high-temperature automotive applications. Continuous-use temperatures range from 120°C to 185°C (248°F to 365°F). Heat deflection temperatures (HDT) go up to 310°C (590°F).

• Lower Moisture Absorption

Humid environments can have a devastating effect on the mechanical properties of standard polyamides. PPA’s lower water absorption rate results in significantly less change in strength and stiffness, even with high levels of humidity.

• Better Chemical Resistance

PPA’s highly aromatic ring structure provides greater resistance to a broader range of chemicals than standard aliphatic polyamides, even at high temperatures. This enables automotive, electrical and industrial components to withstand prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals:

Polyphthalamide PPA resin Application 

Polyphthalamides (PPA) outperform standard polyamides with higher strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures, better retention of properties in humid environments, and greater resistance to a broader range of chemicals.

With a heat deflection temperature of 280°C (536°F) and continuous-use temperature up to 210°C (410°F), PPA (polyphthalamide) can take the heat in under-the-hood applications that are too demanding for conventional nylons and polyesters.
