What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid?
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a non-hazardous solution, which is 32.5% urea and 67.5% de-ionized water. DEF is sprayed into the exhaust stream of diesel vehicles to break down dangerous NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen and water. This system is called Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and can be found on 2010 and later model year trucks and many diesel pickups and SUVs. DEF is not a fuel additive and never comes into contact with diesel. It is stored in a separate tank, typically with a blue filler cap.
DEF urea, also called as automotive urea or AUS urea, is the solid prilled urea with high purity, this kind of urea requires less biuret and heavy metal contents compared with the agricultural urea. Our pure DEF grade urea is read to be carefully blended into aqueous urea solution of 32.5% high purity urea and 67.5% deionized water.With the widespread use of SCR technology, the demand for DEF urea has been increasing year by year.
Currently, our DEF urea has passed the testing in SGS, Amalgatech under ISO22241 standard.

The market for DEF is being created due to the new emission requirements promulgated by the EPA to meet the most recent Clean Air Act specifications. As depicted below the progressive reduction in diesel emissions has driven tremendous changes in engine requirements over the past 15 years. These efforts have been focused on reducing particulates, sulphur, and NOX emissions. DEF is focused on meeting the 2010 requirement for NOX emissions reductions.
The specific approach used to reduce NOX emissions requiring DEF is referred to as SCR or Selective Catalytic Reduction.
