GK-100 Chemical Dry Granulation Machine
In pharmaceutical industry, roller compaction has become the method of choice for dry granulation.
Because of its reasonable design, the process technology can be almost completely disassembled without special tools.
The movable design provides great flexibility during compaction feasibility studies and allows an easy maintenance.

Vacuum conveyor or screw conveyor is optional.
As product is being fed into the compaction zone through the tapered screw feeding system, the powder is pre-compacted and entrapped air is forced out along the side walls of the product hopper. The inherent advantage of the vertical hopper eliminates any requirement for a de-aeration system within the nip zone.
Roll compactor utilizes a unique roll system to compact powders into sheets or briquettes. The compacted sheets are milled to produce granules of a specific size. Particles that fall outside the desired size range can be recirculated back into the roll compaction system hopper, where the product can be reprocessed.
A vertical product flow system uses a tapered feed screw to deliver the material to the fully contained compaction zone of the cantilevered rolls, increasing product yields and minimizing product fines.

Advantages:
1. In general, a major advantage of dry granulation over wet granulation is the absence of water or any organic solvents. Therefore, this methodology is especially attractive for drugs, which are moisture or heat sensitive.
2. This is suitable for compounds that either have a low melting point or degrade rapidly during heating, as the method does not involve any drying step.
3. Roll compaction results in granules that form porous tablets thus allowing water to penetrate more easily into the tablet. This leads to improved disintegration behavior of tablets.
4. In addition, this process is environmentally friendly. Also the roll compaction technique provides an efficient and easily automated process
5. Low operational cost.
6. Dust problems are minimized or avoided and the die filling during tableting is improved.
7. The capping of tablets might also be reduced.
8. Roll compaction/dry granulation can be used, if the drug or the excipient is poorly flowing or sensitive to heat or moisture.
9. It can also be used for densification of powders prior to encapsulation.
