Molecular Distillation/Short Path Distillation is a comparatively new separation technology. It can separate liquid-liquid mixture under temperature that is far lower than boiling point by the difference of mean free path of molecules under high vacuum condition. Such separation is difficult or unable to achieve on normal distillation equipments. Molecular Distillation is especially suitable to separate substances of high boiling point, heat sensitive and easy oxidized.

1.Ask: What's the working principle of Molecular Distillation System?
Answer: Under the condition of negative pressure, heating liquid from the thermostat which makes solution easily separately, magnetic driven scraper is rolling to form a thin film in bottle wall, mixture slowly flow onto bottle wall. This process is characterized by short term exposure of the distillate liquid to high temperatures, by high vacuum pressure (around 1024 mmHg) in the distillation column and a small distance between the evaporator and the condenser around 2 cm, where fluids are in the free molecular flow regime, i.e. the mean free path of molecules is comparable to the size of the equipment. This process has the advantages of avoiding the problem of toxicity that occurs in techniques that use solvents as the separating agent, and also of minimizing losses due to thermal decomposition.
