1. Overview:

Softening water system is for hardness reduction, mainly remove Ca2+, Mg2+ from the raw water, but can not remove TDS. 

 

2. Operating Principle:

Multi-medium filter and activate carbon filter are pre-treatment filters which is done by filter media(quartz sand, activate carbon, gravel, anthracite...ect) to purify raw water first then enter into water softener.

As Calcium & Magnesium are the main substances for the hardness water. In order to exchange Ca2+, Mg2+(main component of scale), cation exchanger(softener) is needed. After running for a long time, resin shall be regenerated by sodium chloride (NaCl).

 

Reaction equation of softening: (R is resin)
2RNa+Ca2+=-R2Ca+2Na+                 2RNa+Mg2+=R2Mg+2Na+

 

Reaction equation of regeneration:
R2Ca+2NaCl=2RNa+CaCl2                R2Mg+2NaCl=2RNa+MgCl2

 

 

3. Application Field:

1. Soften feed water for steam boilers, hot water boilers, switches, evaporative condensers, air conditioning, direct gas turbine systems.


2. Hotels, restaurants, office buildings, apartments, home, etc.


3. Softened water treatment for food, beverage, wine, laundry, printing and dyeing, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries.
